Homemade Chocolate

Homemade gifts are taking centre stage this year. So, why not treat your friends or family to some handmade chocolate this year. Carefully wrap with some beautiful ribbon and you have a wonderfully delicious gift.

Serves

6

Ingredients

300g dark chocolate

150g milk chocolate

75g white chocolate

2tbsp cocoa nibs

50g whole almonds, roughly chopped

50g roasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped

Method

Line a baking tray (approx. 20 x 30cm) with Bacofoil Non-Stick Baking Paper. Place each type of chocolate into a separate small bowl and melt each over a pan of barely simmering water. You could alternatively melt each in the microwave on a medium power, being careful not to overheat it.

Drizzle the dark chocolate onto the prepared tray, followed by the milk and white chocolates, use a teaspoon to marble the chocolates together. Scatter over the cocoa nibs, almonds and hazelnuts. Leave in a cool place to harden.

Break into rough chunks and place into cellophane or paper bags.

*** will keep at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. A white ‘bloom’ may appear on the surface of the chocolate as it cools, this is completely harmless and is a result of the cocoa butter in the chocolate cooling.

TIP: for flavoured chocolate mix a few drops of orange, almond or peppermint extract into the dark chocolate once melted.
