More Taste Less Waste Mince Pies

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without delicious mince pies. This tasty recipe is so easy to do, and the great news is you can make them well in advance and freeze them for up to 3 months, then just reheat whenever you get that mince pie craving.

Ingredients

500g Block Shortcrust Pastry

Plain Flour For Dusting

300g Mincemeat

1 egg, beaten

Caster Sugar for sprinkling

Method

Roll out the pastry to the thickness of a £1 coin then, using an 8cm round pastry cutter, stamp out 12 circles.

Carefully push the circles of pastry into a non-stick muffin tray and spoon a little mincemeat into each one.

Preheat the oven to 200c/180c fan and cook for 15-20 minutes until golden.

Less Waste: Once cooled, place the mince pies into a Bacofoil® Zipper® Bag and freeze for up to 3 months.

When ready to eat, defrost and place on a baking tray lined with Bacofoil® Non-Stick Baking Paper and pop them in the oven for 6-8 minutes at 180c. Give them a few minutes more if heating from frozen.
